Oh dear..  

Limited users are prevented from accessing several features on Steam, including but not limited to:

Sending friend invites
Opening group chat
Voting on Greenlight, Steam Reviews and Workshop items
Participating in the Steam Market
Posting frequently in the Steam Discussions
Gaining Steam Profile Levels (Locked to level 0) and Trading Cards
Submitting content on the Steam Workshop
Posting in an item's Steam Workshop Discussions
Accessing the Steam Web API
Using browser and mobile chat
Adding public artwork and screenshots

Reasonable to me, imagine thousands of bots doing any of that. Greenlight? Web API? Steam market/trading cards? They would potentially push anyone who abused it to automatically publish their own indie game worldwide, rate it, generate revenue continuously and then advertise it elsewhere. Discussions and screenshots are restricted to disallow potential server space issues. I've personally never even done half of those things anyway so other than the first two points listed, it won't be an issue.

I'm with Squidd in that other than friend lists and maybe group chat none of the other stuff even interests me in the slightest.  We have group chat here though so really the friend list is the only reason I'd ever give them my $5.  Although the only reason I'm even on Steam is because of QL so I'd rather give my $5 to QL.

I'm not even interesting in playing other games other than TF2 because DSG talked me into it.  I downloaded it several weeks ago but still haven't even tried it once though.  I probably won't ever give them my $5 so if you want to be my Steam friend, whatever that's worth, you better send an invite to me.
