What I really hope , is they use the player friendly version over there. I don't think I can stand playing with easy Players.

I'm a bit concerned about the "Sometime after that we will launch an update that for the first time in Quake Live's history, will bring about some big gameplay changes"
Now if they dumb it down too much then I think I might be done with QL.
If it brings in more people and brings about more LAN's and tournaments I will be pleased still even though I won't be playing.
I'm hoping the big gameplay changes only really affect first time users, but am not holding my breath as ID do have previous when it comes to making piss poor decisions.
Spose just gotta wait and see.

They might make some of the lesser used weapons more viable, which could be interesting. quake has always just had 3 core weapons - LG, rockets and RG.
edit: I hope for PayPal or at least the option to use your steam wallet for pro subscriptions :)

The 2 main things I see are
#1...Paypal.. This needs to be done
#2.. Some sort of control over Tier Slumming.. I mean when QL goes Steam.. It will be like bringing lambs to the slaughter!
I'm sure some of our worst slummers are having wet dreams over all this incoming fresh meat and are making alt accounts..
I really hope they don't dumb anything down.. But I'd suggest disabling strafe jumping for Tier 3 as the Tier 4 slummers are good at it..

swampy Then how do you propose to let the lower-tier players learn how to incorporate strafe-jumping with other skills? And as someone who's currently re-stuck in Tier 3, more and more players seem to be starting to get the hang of strafe jumping (in Clan Arena, at any rate). My thoughts on QL coming to Steam overall: Sure, the game might change a little bit, but as long as it still feels like a good Quake game, I'll be happy with whatever happens. At least we can expand the wings of the clan out, eh?

Paypal is one of the payment methods that Steam uses. So as what was said in Sync's post, you will be able to Sub through Paypal. That's if I read it right.

I agree with wooks --> "will bring about some big gameplay changes" has me slightly worried, hopefully it means matchmaking will be given an overhaul if they start pissing about with weapon balance and physics then im gonna have to say goodbye to QL The practice maps and tutorials are fairly comprehensive and there is bot support, I really dont know what else they can do for the new guys other than let them start in tier 2 and forcing them to at least play the practice maps once ( but dont need to complete them) before online play, I came from playing Q3 against bots and a couple of friends (played the shiz outta quake and quake 2 though ) and the tutorials helped me a lot.

I'm sure there will be a lot of positive changes! Maybe they will implement counter strike tier improvement and overall different (more interesting and easier for "noobs") approach on new players. Anyway, i expect QL popularity boost among young players and army of newcomers
