Since a few days ago my ping has gotten crazy high. I'm in NA and I used to have 3 servers with about a 30 ping and everything else was around 60-80 at worst. Now I have one server with a 65 ping, most are around 85-95 with the west coast around 115. I've never tried time nudge before. Is there a rule of thumb for how much you should use for certain ranges of ping?

timenudge is all about preference.
Your best bet is to try and mess around with values from -20, -10, 0 (default setting), 10, 20 (if you get a value that feels ok lower or raise it by 1 or 2 until it feels good.
-20 is absolutely horrible to play with so try that first and have some giggles.
I suggest setting up a server with a fellow drunkie so you can just go shooting him and get him to dodge as he normally would as doing this on a praccy server against bots is completely pointless.
Also make sure you have a lagometer visible on your hud because timenudge will cause client side stuttering and you don't want anything too major with that.
People say players that are playing with timenudge are quite warpy, but it's meant to be client side command so I dunno, I can't comment on that.

Thanks Wookster. I played some CTF today with time nudge set to -10 for awhile then -20 for awhile on a server where I had a ping that was jumping from 80-110. To be honest, I couldn't tell much difference. At -20 it was a little jittery but I couldn't hit anything any better than at -10 or 0. I think my Quake game might just suffer unless I switch to another ISP. I only have two available though and the other one costs more after their introductory rate. On the plus side, nobody complained about me warping.

Yea I think if your internet connection isn't up to scratch no amount of timenudge will help you out.
I think the whole perception of players that use timenudge and thinking they all warp is just a misconception, because they're probably warping because their internet connection is so bad and they are also using timenudge to try and make the game playable so people put 2 and 2 together and get 10 or something and make false claims about timenudge making players warp all over the servers.
Not sure what to try, i'm not massively technically minded.
I know recently some players in Germany were getting crazy high pings to German servers, so maybe a routing thing?
Maybe you should ask over at the QL forums and check if you can do some "checks" to see if it is an issue you can fix?
Lorfa always gives good advice, as does yakumo (i think thats how you spell it) Lam also has helped me out quite a bit in the past.
So just try your luck there and you never know.

I have very good Internet speed. It does not mean anything. Its all about your ISPs Routing to a particular location. Its funny, as one Illinois I will ping 97, and the other one I will get a question mark. But to DC I will ping 82 most times(I am on west coast). I have tried Timenudge before with the same mixed results. So figure...

I'm betting something happened in the line. For a couple years right up until recently I had great ping. I had 30 ping to IL, DC and VA. Around 50 to Texas and Toronto. California was even playable around 65-75. Then suddenly my ping went to hell and youtube videos load slow. I also saw an ATT truck roaming the neighborhood when went things went south. Coincidence? Maybe. I called and they ran a test of the line and it came back fine, go figure. On speedtest.net I used to ping 20, now I'm over 50. About the only server playable now is Chicago with a 55 ping where on a good day it used to get down around 15-19. I think I'm going cable internet next month. Just got this modem too....that's my luck!
