Just joined and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rich and I live in Texas. I am married with 3 kids and am about to turn 45 (gulp). I played q3 arena for 6 years back in the day. I like long walks on the beach and am preparing for the zombie apocalypse by buying lots of beer. Not sure how that will help, but at least I will be drunk. Name in game is Madcoil.

So I need to know if Quake Live premium is worth the money? I currently only play the free version.

Good question, I think it mainly depends on if there are a lot of premium servers spawned in your location to get any benefit out of it really. It's a tough one. I know it can be a benefit when playing pickup matches because then you don't need to ask for invites. But in my opinion if you have a lot of prem or pro players on your friends list then having a premium subscription becomes negligible. Maybe trial it for 1 month, to see if you like it or not and whether it enhances your experience. swampy is probably best placed to advise though as he is from around your way so will know about whether there are decent premium servers to justify the layout.

So I need to know if Quake Live premium is worth the money? I currently only play the free version. That's a very good question depending on your needs. There are Pluses and minuses to buying Prem/Pro. Pluses are starting servers and custom modding them, playing all maps( not stuck in free rotation), more clan tags, access to FT and other modes that you can't play for free. This is very good for here..As our Pro members can start servers for Clan practice, matches against other clans, etc,etc.. No 15 second wait for ads (Unless you use QLprism or a Userscript in chrome or FF) Minuses.. Unless your playing something like FT.. You will not find a lot of Pro spawned servers filled. (At least not in USA) Basically while there are a lot of people with Prem/Pro accounts.. It's hard to keep a server up just for this..When the Pub servers are more filled. But by me having a Pro account and using the "Auto Invite" script.. People on my friends list can join a Premium server I am on. I'm sure more members here can add more to this.. I'm on my second year of a Pro account.. And will renew for a 3'rd year. $25- $50 a year is actually not bad if you compare it to other subscriptions for other games. I suggest you try out a 1 month sub, so you can decide for yourself.. Also if you have a free account (I have an alt free account) Just get a good friends list going. There will always be a place/invite for you on a Prem map with a friend who has a subscription. Also feel free to add any drunks to your friend list.. Here's a thread on it.

Nah its not neccisary if you just start with ql.First time you can do fine without it. Only if youre getting good and are going to play cups in it you will need it to learn all maps and play with the better players in the pickup channels etc. Then you can still choose between pro/pre.First see if you play long enouch, because if you play it like more then a year, its probably worth the money. If you buy a new game its like the same amount of money and most games you only play for a short time. But in the end you got to decide for yourself
