hmm weird that you cant launch it in ql? where did you put the file? should be under /quakelive/baseq3 (with the other .pk3 files) then in practice mode jsut type "/map mhj-t1" or "/devmap mhj-t1" if you want cheats enabled make sure the file has the "read only" option checked, should be checked already but might be something wrong? this is just for ql, not needed in q3a

anyway! Is there anyone else in here that's into ql/q3 mapping, or even mapping for other games as well? I've mapped for HL2 like 6 or 7 years ago and I recently took up mapping with GtKradiant. Btw, the maps I'm doing atm are remakes of old map I made, but as HL2 didn't have a notable DM mod, my maps basically took the dust. I don't know if I'll manage to finish these maps for real though, but the brushwork is going okay atm, so I hope I won't get stopped later in the process for some stupid technical reasons. MHJ, I might need your help later. Prepare to get spammed

It is a bit early to post this since there are things I wanted to do before releasing an alpha, but this wraps up my first month (21 may to 21 june) of mapping for quakelive, so I'll still post it in a somewhat private circle : It's a FFA/duel/CA map. I wanted them to be like the ones in skyward, but for some reason I didn't manage to get the shaders working. I also wanted to include some decals/patches under the power-ups but it didn't work. Actually, the decal at the tele exit happened to work, I'm still trying to decipher why things work/don't work. Oh and there is a strange pillar near the RA, you can just go through it, it shouldn't be a pain to fix it, but I just forgot to do it and I don't want to recompile everything right now. These are the stuff I intend to do before calling it a beta : Detailing more the textures on floors and some walls (I can afford to do it without much constraint since the framerate is better than I first anticipated), working on the lightning around the too dark areas, using patch meshes for the curvy stuff, putting electric wires on the very top of the map to prevent players camping it (you can access it easily with the jumpad+rocket jump), putting player clips to avoid getting stuck on small details and putting sounds in the map.

martinheterjag : I've arranged some item placements mostly. I have to find a suitable skybox or make one, but since I'm not really interested in anything 2D, I'm procrastinating it. I've started an other indoor map though, this one should go more smoothly. I've got inspired by Quakeworld dm6 (that's the elegant way to say it's going to be a rip-off in some parts).
