This is a quick and easy method for getting your Demos recorded and converted to be put on youtube.
THINGS NEEDEDFraps (If you haven't got fraps then errrrrrr
me)
Virtual Dub or Windows Movie Maker or any other movie making software.
I know Windows Movie Maker is crap but just to get a video online it's fine and does the job and is free to all windows users so for the purpose of this guide we will use that.
But Personally I recommend Either Sony Vegas for windows or ScreenFlow for Mac.
RECORDING THE DEMOStart Fraps.
Then check the movie settings I normally use 60fps and click the half size box.
But you can use what you wish.
Go to QL and start a practice map.
Make sure you are in windowed mode, because it just won't record properly at full screen. Well it don't for me.
Open Console type "/demo (demoname)
Wait for it to load then hit F9 to start frapsing. You will notice a slight loss of speed but should be fine.
If your experiencing massive slowdown and sound issues do the following.
Make sure nothing is running in the background. If it is, close it until your recording has finished.
Once the match is complete and recorded, close Fraps and Exit QL.
EDITING YOUR VIDEOOpen up your movie software for this guide it's Windows Movie Maker.
Now we need to drag and drop the demo.
Fraps Normally saves in "(C:) Fraps - Movies" so open that.
Then Drag the AVI fraps demo to the Windows Movie Maker
(or you can click file open then click on the demo, but I don't recommend this way because sometimes it saves onto 2 files depending on the size of the video)
Edit your video to how you want it.
Now when it comes to saving the video I personally use the "Recommended Settings" because you get 720p on youtube which is quite adequate.
I tried the full HD Save and it took and eternity to save and upload and there wasn't much difference between 720p and 1080p on youtube.
Wait for it to save then upload to youtube
GETTING THE YOUTUBE LOG IN DETAILSLogin Details for youtube can be obtained from thewookster or Swampy via the PM function on the forums.
There is no limit to the length of the video's on our account.
Once you have the Log in details then please keep them to yourselves and not to share them with anyone, even other drunk members because I think it's best if just thewookster and Swampy hand out the details so we can keep track of who has what.
Right go make some videos
Because me and swampy have better things to do like propping up the Bar
