A friend of mine got 2 compaq Presario CQ56's as part of a settlement on something to do with Nvidia.

So I got one still in the box unopened for less than 1/2 price for what the stores sell. $150 on my end (American dollar) . 299 EU's it sells for over there..

My macbook running Win 7 would overheat when running QL and just quit. 50% of my QL quits were due to that. The compaq seems to run very cool.

I'll be spending the next few days moving over my configs, scripts etc. Then will delete Win7 from my mac and re-install OSX Lion.

Need to buy another ethernet cable so I can network the 2 comps together.

Hopefully this should solve some of my problems.

Good luck with that I tried networking them, and gave up when I smelt dinner ;D

I would love for quake to work on my mac, but can't see that happening ever.

But spoke to someone using a Mac playing quake and he has no problems at all?

hee.. I forgot about the pre loaded crud in new PC's..Looks like I'll be cleaning house..

Networking Windows to OSX.. Not a problem.. Been doing it for 10 years.. Easy...

He will still get tops of 80 fps.. But I see less problems on the newer macs that are not running core 2 duo..

Which, sadly I can't afford to upgrade to.. oh well...
