The reviews got it about right. It was about as filthy and horrible a place as you could wish to visit. However I met my brother for a beer last week there and it had been cleaned ! The carpet had gone, they'd papered the walls. Fortunately they hadn't refurbed the bogs

And there was a sign on the wall telling you what day it was : "today is Wednesday" it said. That's got to be a sign of something or other.

But word of advice, certainly not the place to bring a first date if you are trying to impress..

I've been in that pub

Going back many moons though when I use to have a proper social life and London was my port of call every Friday and Saturday night.

But after a while we use to end up at some skanky pub called the "flying scotsman" (I'm betting doc knows it)

Basically loads of errrrrrm women (if you can call them that) hawking themselves for 50p a show and they come round with a jar before there little stage dance.

I don't recommend it unless your between the ages of 18 and 20 because the beers like piss and the chicks are well errrrr lets just say not very nice

My favourite pub ever is called the the ferry boat in a village called Holywell in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

I use to go there every sunday for my roast dinner and lots of real ales and always enjoyed it.

Then I moved up north and just have not been back down that way to appreciate it again. But I might go back now I have thought about it when I go visiting.

That's one of the myriad signs adorning the wall of this beautiful dive bar, and it's a good measure of a friend. I'm not certain whether Tiki's is the friend or the skank.

Tiki's is a dirty little bar, more than capable of getting you thoroughly plowed and then throwing you out on the street. The barstools are alternately padded and ripped. The bathrooms have no lock, are graffitied, and clog easily. Several walls are adorned with unseasonable Christmas decorations, such as reindeer, among other random things.

But the jukebox makes the joint. I don't know of anyplace else where I've found mc chris, Front 242, and Motley Crue all in one place.

Decatur Street is dirty, and this place is a dirty spot on a dirty street. I'm happy to have found it. By no means at all is it the right spot for everyone, and it doesn't want to be, and it shouldn't be.

I was lost for 48 hours in New Orleans. Couldn't find my bed n breakfast, the original group of people I showed up with, or my dignity. I even managed to stumble onto a boat and onto the river. This place started it. Fraggle Rock theme blaring from the jukebox, bartender making a drink I like to call my own sweet tea, and the demise of my own humanity devoured by the beast within. 48 hours later, vacation half over, friends finally find my remains. The bartender chases em down the street and says get your friend he is scaring the locals. At this point I was the Great Cornholio munching on vitamin packs from the vending machine for the past 2 days and swilling Jim Beam on the rocks with a little sweetener. I had encountered interesting commentary from a guy wearing an over sized purple sombrero asking me what my problem was. I no longer was looking through my own eyes, but watching from the cheapseats as this out of body experience took hold. I don't know what happened, I do have a camera full of pictures and my tab went into the several hundreds. There are still people I run into, when back in New Orleans that yell, "hey, Kentucky". I have no f in clue how I could be remembered as such. This place is full of the dark spirit. Go drink it, drink bourbon. Do it now, or your liver will attack your kidneys and lose.

This bar has the most dubious distinction of being the only establishment ever to eject me. The story is worth it, but it'll cost ya.

I have friends that would pay good money to see me get thrown out of a dive like this one...
Despite the fact that it was a misunderstanding, I still cannot erase the memory of being asked to leave a place like this.
There are really no words to describe it, but I will say that there was a strand of decorated swine flu masks, some choice words of graffiti on every inch of the bathroom walls, and bacon martinis.

I have to give this bar one more star for the people I met there, who were the redeeming quality. The jukebox is OK, the drinks are nothing special, and the atmosphere was tense at best, but I met some good folks there.

All in all, I ended up going back to the Tiki Bar even after getting accidentally booted. The people were cool and the place is open 24 hours. Cheers to the native New Orleans folks there who made my visit much more fun.

accidentally booted? that's a lie..you got into a huff after I asked you to come into the men's bathroom and give --Mr.Happy-- a kiss. It's not like you woulda choked..And why get pissed because I said your boobs were saggy? I never got to find out!

Funny tho how nice pubs never quite seem become my local. It's always one that's a bit unsavoury. Aunt Tiki's sounds perfect
