What is efreeze? Is that another name for iFT?
Also, what's the difference between efreeze and freezeDT? Judging by youtube videos it looks like in freezeDT the lg is used like a grappling hook. Is that the difference?

I played freeze both with and without the grappling hook in the q3 days - there are pros and cons, I think when I played more frequently I enjoyed the grappling hook more but as I'm not as precise any more in my quake old age I prefer it a little simpler it was always satisfying catching someone mid-grapple with a rail though!

I've never even seen a grappling hook in Quake before, sounds interesting. One of those other games, either Warsow or Xonotic has a grappling hook that I used in CTF but I could never really get into either of those games. Not like Quake. Grappling hook was useful though once I got the hang of it.

It's definitely useful once you get the hang of it. You could grapple the ground in front of you to get a FAST start to strafe jumping, and it's a great way to fly around and dodge a lot of heavy fire. That being said, I felt like it made the game almost sloppier at times, people just grappling randomly to try to avoid being hit (and there were moments where it definitely reaped results). An interesting twist, but I like things as they are now. That video brought back memories though

QL already has a grappling hook built into it.. It's buggy and I'm not sure QL want's to use it. We got to try it out when I was a QL Focus tester.
I think in Warsow or Xonotic..You can grapple and shoot with a weapon at the same time if you set your keys up right.
The grapple in QL is actually a thin chain and makes a clunky chain sound.. It's good for getting up to high places that are hard to RJ to,so you can rail and if you hit someone with it,it will frag them.. You can't grapple and shoot at the same time..

You use to be able to use it by playing on dev map with cheats enabled
You could try and see if it is still on there

Maybe with the Steam Workshop, and Player being able to use own Maps and mods (as was the case in Gamespy) anything is possible?
