As we all know, Quake needs a lot of practice to get good at it. I know I could use a lot of work on some of my weapons (especially lightning gun/Rail Gun), and I'm wondering if anybody wants to spend a bit of time starting next week (first week of September) working on just a few weapons specifically.
I'm thinking of 1v1 CA for practice, and limiting weapon use to just one or two guns. Hopefully we can give feedback and improve as a group- is anyone interested?

Should have been there last night, we were going rail only for like 45 minutes. Was pretty epic!!! But yes agreed. Would be a great idea to hone those gatskills!!! )

I'm interested. I like the idea of having a more structured practice with some sort of goal in mind.

I think the first weapon should be rail..It's the hardest and a lot of players avoid learning it..I hate rail.. and it's my biggest weakness..

Helpful ideas! I also think to wrap up any practice like this, as sort of a warm-down, we should go back to a normal game using all weapons to not only incorporate our new skills into regular play, but to remind our minds that each weapon is situational, and most often will be used when that specific instrument is optimal. /end meta explanation

I like that idea, Squidd! In that spirit, we could also do specific weapon vs weapon practices as well- such as rocket vs rail, lg vs rail, lg vs rocket, lg vs plasma, etc...
And having these as warmdowns is an even better idea, we'd be able to apply a better degree of movement and situational awareness to specific weapons.

So I have pretty much all weekend open. I'd like to get some FT practice in, for the Transatlantic, and also do the specific weapons practice. East Coast peeps ok with 8pm your time? Or earlier/later? Also, I'm off on Monday for Labor day, so I have that open too.

I'll be online this weekend in the evenings to play and practice. 8pm EDT is absolutely fine by me.

I have to get up super early tomorrow and Monday (packing to move in to University), so unfortunately I won't be able to get online If anybody at all wants to get a practice going on Tuesday night though, I'll be perfectly fine (I know, I know, too late TT_TT) >edit: Monday, around 10PM EST, I should be alright to be online. Unless my residence blocks my internet.

Tried to play sat night..but this ancient single core laptop cant hack it. after 5-10 minutes the game slows down and it seems my mouse control lags out.. win7 32 with as much stuff as i can turn off dell inspiron 1501 AMD Turion 64 Mobile MK-36 Richmond 90nm Technology 2.00GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 249MHz (4-4-4-12) I had a better dual core HP sitting here..but after putting in new ram and an hd.. it won't start up..so i'm stuck on this for now. i also get the slomo/lag out after 10 minutes when playing Urban Terror.. thinking of putting XP in it...
