Whats Up With This? Q&A (Read 782 times)

I am going to start this thread as a response to any ones feelings about this Clan, as I myself have had some thoughts. Allthough this Thread is meant to be a complaint DEPT, with maybe some Answers.. So here goes,,

When I first got here, I thought this was going to be the best thing since "Sliced Bread".  I  soon I found out different. No Practice! No one gets together! Hardly any one is around! I even thought to myself we Stink as a team. Or even Are we just going to become just a Tag?

Basicly all of these were soon answerd, or using a little common sense on my part.

1. We are a new Clan
2. Our age group Runs from Teens, to way Over the Hill.
3. As a response to #2,, Attitudes will vary.
4. Some of us go to School
5. Some of us Work
6. some of us have a Life( don't mean it like that) 

I was in a Clan one time a while ago. No one talked, gave recognition, or even gave me a sense that I was Part of something. With the Beefs I had with DNA, they were soon out weighed. That Sense to me, Trumps all Squaks. And a Positive Attitude and a sense of Reality made me a Lifer for the Drunk Clans.

lowlife: these are exactly the issues- and your number 1 issue (that we're a new clan) is the biggest issue. Not all of us are used to each other yet, and not all of us are acquainted with everyone's schedules yet. I understand we've worked out a standard practice schedule- but that it's also hard for everyone to come out to it. I think the best thing to do is just keep having practices, pop online as often as possible, and steadily build up to a clan more based on teamwork. 

I'd recommend having a few other venues at which we can contact each other- things like skype for example. I've seen gaming communities that have a forums, but most of the players are comfortable with each other, so they (technically, I should be using "we") use skype for most communications. This kind of communication will also, I believe, lead to a feeling  more of camaraderie with each other (and it should allow for more immediate communications- which can help to determine who can come out to practices, and when those practices are).

My .02.

Agree with Deathstar and Lowlife. Clan is very new, and people still need to gell. I have been trying to make a conscious effort to reach out to all the members. Whether it's making a server and inviting others, or just saying hi, these little things count. It could all boil down to a comfort level too, which will also resolve over time. I noticed that some people like playing some game types, while others revolve around different ones, which is cool too. Stop in and spec/play with your clan peeps!! Maybe one day we'll have our own subset for different game types too!

I try and login every day and at least play a game or two. The Wed and Fri Fight nights will grow and be a phenomenon. Soon people will want to pick up the tag more and more. I like the idea of Skype. Also, FB? I believe there is a spot in everyones Profile for a FB link. Use it if you like, and add your peeps! Also,, TEAMSPEAK SERVER.. Everyone should have the login by now. Lowlife and I use it to B.S.. It's a great way to just have some banter ( and some talking ) ) going while playing the game. We need to seriously utilize it for any team matches. If you don't have a login let me know. Also, if you don't have the hardware (mic-speakers-etc.) let me know!

Above all. This is a game. We want to be the best at whatever we do, which is why we are here right? We can't be the best without a love for the game and a serious goal in mind. Since were so new, we haven't really set out any goals other than Wed and Fri night Fights.

What Goals would you like to see achieved within the coming months? Years?

Maybe we should do a little Screening first before we Recruit Players? I know Drunk pretty much takes all Peeps. But I just Wonder (for DNA side) maybe we should lay out more of what we are all about? More of a " We are New, Layed Back, Play Mainly For Fun and Not To The Point Where Our Heads Will Explode Clan" ( IMO, others will vary)? As far as "Whats Up With This" I don't want Us to loose any more Players because of "Communication problems of what we are all about". 

I mainly started this Thread around one Member(gone).I hope he went away even?

So if you have a "Whats Up With This", bring it here (probably wont be used much). And we will see whats up..

I'm a little bummed that I came in late to the party on this. I logged in when I sat down at my desk at "work" and see like a half baked battleground.

Wish I could have seen the deleted parts, but I get the gist.

There are people here that are beyond "new and chill" though, and you'd have to account for them. I'm not opposed to screening anyone, but what would our criteria be?

Sidenote,

There are a few people that took the tag and haven't logged in since??? Do we have a finite shelf life for AFK members? Can I kick after 30 days no login??

lowlife.. I agree with you on a lot of points..I started DNA only 2 months ago..When in essence I should of done this 2 years ago..And DNA is not a toy for me..I want new members..We all do..

So what I will do..And should have done..Is all new members that want the DNA tag will get "drunk" first..

Then if they show an interest..If they add DNA members to their friends list.. If They participate and play with DNA members then they get the DNA tag.

This is how "qrunk' the EU branch of drunk started..You didn't get the tag unless you participated and or were active.

It also means that there will not be any enforced shite like you must be here for this practice,blah,blah..

Everyone here lives in different time zones with different schedules..

We'll all work it out..I think between timezones, different job hours, students, etc etc..We'll get enough players to have fun..

Also remember that all DNA members are allowed to participate in any "qrunk" events if you don't mind a high ping to EU

heh I was posting when you posted this..It's a good idea..Read my post..new members will now get drunk tag..and then have to play with DNA members for that tag.. This how members got to be "qrunk"

It's my fault..I should have done it this way from the beginning...

I propose that after getting DNA.. you don't get kicked  if you make us aware of your schedule, etc.

Howsoever  Gangland.. feel free to kick any DNA member at this time..Who has not added any members to their friends list.. And seems to be only wearing the DNA tag..

Posting on this forum is not a must at all..But to be DNA..Then participate  when you can with other members..


Also remember  you can find a lot of drunk/qrunk members by clicking on the #IRC in the NAV bar up top..This will take you to the drunk and chill clan channels..

The whole thing about " My Whats Up With This" was not to get Players Kicked. But to Educate or Inform new Members what is going on before they proceed.

As in the Drunk Rules,, at least give the ones that don't do the things as stated a chance to a evaluation. It would kind of be a bumber to come back after a long absence and find out, "Your Out" without one giving a Kosher explination why.

Wasn't planning on mass kicking people. Actually don't want to kick anyone. Just trying to get an idea of protocol that's all. There's one that hasn't logged in in almost a month, and a couple that are getting close. Just seems retarded to me to say, "yeah I want this", then bounce.

I completely agree ..No one should be kicked, etc, etc..This is only a small part of your life and when you join DNA you won't be kicked for being gone.. Unless your wearing the DNA tag and at least not checking in now and then.

Or maybe not..  My thoughts are for DNA..You get drunk first and participate to get DNA..

But I hate a bunch of rules..

We won't go like RipSet (and they were some nice people)

It took qrunk about a year to get going and they are 3 years strong now..And we will also be.. It just takes time..

Any ideas on me setting up threads better at the DNA board?  Also I hate the background and we need a logo...

Try organising something that will involve all your members one evening.

Last night we had a one map duel comp and it was fun.  We only had 9 people (or was it 8) but still took around 2 hours to finish with a losers bracket.

I don't mind organising something one evening for you lot to try and encourage more members to join your ranks.

Because if for instance you do a one map duel comp, leave the server open and available to everyone.  People join asking whats going on, you explain to them it's a DNA thing and they might become interested in joining because you are offering fun stuff to do instead of the run of the mill clan wars in CA, FT etc etc.

I'm not 100% clued up on how populated the NA servers are, but I am sure you have plenty of players available and willing to join and play.

Obviously some give and take will have to happen with regards to ping due to having US, Canada and maybe others joining.

But I hope it gives you some ideas and some encouragement to continue because going by this thread it seems some of you are feeling a little bit demotivated.

Tyring to start a clan is difficult, even more so now with regards to a shrinking playerbase.

But you just need to grit your teeth and do a bit of running around.  Ups and downs are necessary and you will become better for it.

Anyways think about it, and if you need a bit of help organising it i'm sure I can stay awake later one evening to help you guys out.

Edit:  Also I have a team of 4/5 players willing to play one match there and one match here, so will post something next week to try and get something going.
