What program you guys use to record a demo?
A time ago i tried a special program for it and it goes only to 60fps,and with that i cant play!need my 125fps!
Think i gonna ask friend of me this weekend,hes in the top 10 of netherland with ql.Gues he wil know it.

You mean, to make a "movie" (=avi file) from a demo?
I think the best is Wolfcam. With "seta cl_aviFrameRate "125"" in your cfg it should make you a 125fps movie. Not sure it's the best frame rate, 120 seems more "standard".

Are you using something like fraps and trying to record the game as you play?

You don't want to do that.

You can record a demo while you play.. by opening the console and typing /record demoname (demoname being whatever you want to call it)

When finished open console and type /stoprecord.

This does not make an actually recording.. but consider it a bookmark to the QL servers where it is stored so you can watch it when you want.

It will show up in your Q3 folder in a folder called "demos"

To watch it you can use Quake Live Demo Tools sourceforge.net/projects/qldt/

After recording your demo.. You are now ready to use something like fraps or wolfcam to make your demo into a video format..

Agree with swampy.

Much better results when recorded off wolfcam as you seem to get a more crisper and smoother picture.

Fraps is an alright alternative but can give you a choppy finished article.

I've not tried using fraps on wolfcam, but I suspect it will probably be the same as frapsing a demo off quake live.

But from the sound of it, it looks like your are trying to fraps the match while your actually playing which can't be done. Not unless you have the mother hubbard of all computers

Open console ingame /record (this records the demo file, you can name the demo by just typing it after record example /record drunkdm7)

Then to stop recording it's just /stoprecord

To view your demos you will need to either start a practice match OR download wolfcam.

Wolfcam is self explanatory on viewing demos once downloaded basically it's just there once wolfcam is open.

To watch a demo in QL. Start a practice match - open console - type /demo demoname

i.e /demo drunkdm7 then it should load

Oh make sure you have a demos folder, because I didn't when I installed recently. but if not just create one.

imo the best is to use "cg_autoAction 1" in your config, it records all games automatically, so you don't need to bother with typing in the console or hit a bind. And since you never know when you're going to do something awesomely great, better to record everything
"cl_demoRecordMessage 0" hides the recording message.

agree with epikt in that point, autorecord is much better than typing record every match, furthermore demos dont affect your performance or fps at all, the demos dont need much space on your hard drive either, I have 200 demos in it and its only 500 mb

(had alot more but lost them due to a virus on my old laptop)

if you want a guide on how to record using wolfcam or fraps, check the guides wooks and I made!
you can also record from QL with cl_avidemo(I think that was the command...), but it doesnt record the sound so you need to record twice, on time the sound and one time the video, wolfcam can record video and audio simultaniously.

Just a quick tip.. To make wolfcam go fullscreen.. just alt+enter..

Edit.. I just upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to the beta 12.04..And wolfcam stopped working..

On a whim I set it up in "wine".. Works perfectly except for having to move the demo from my ubuntu QL folder to The new set up in wine.. but thats no biggie...... Whew!
